Born

Alexandra born Vini is son of Afro pop legend & local 80’s music royalty Condry Ziqubu. Vini’s interest in music started at an early age, in high school he was part of a musical group “Black Code” that performed and won various talent shows around Jozi. Vini also studied music under industry legend Rozy Katz at Midi Trust in Newtown. Vini’s group was spotted by a local talent scout and led to the group being opening acts for established artists like Boom Shaka, Skeem & Trompies. When the group split & went their separate ways in the late 90s – 2000, Vini became part of an R&B duo called “Melody” with now American based female singer called Philadelphia. The duo performed in local gigs & even thou they never completed recording their album due to school commitments at the time. The duo performed with the likes of Boom Shaka,Vicky Samson, Andile, Brothers of peace & Trompies to name a few.

Desire

Vini placed music on a back burner & was happy to sit back and be an observer to the industry while he focused on his property ambitions as an aspiring property manager. The music bug was too strong though and it was till he met with upcoming producer Crxash.0 in 2016 that his music ambitions was ignited once more. His first 2 singles “Trappers” & “Kutsa” was the product & his first recorded material as a solo artist received moderate reception. “ i had self-doubt because i was away from the music scene for so long” says Vini, who thanks his father for encouraging him to finish what he’s always wanted to do. “It was my father’s dream as well to see me have a project of my own and that inspired me to focus on my goal”.

Inspiration

That inspiration led to the birth of his debut album “It was all a dream” the album is a mixture of hip-hop, R&B with soul elements which was influenced by Vini’s upbringing. “ im old school at heart and my music is influenced by the 80s & 90s sounds and this album have those elements”. Vini’s debut album had a lead single “Babi Luv” feat Jase Murcus - with the music video directed by Vini himself under this label Grand Hussle. Music video is Available on YouTube.

In 2019 Vini released a new single called Candyland which gained lots of love from fans & radio. The single is a fun, catchy tune which simply appeals to the ear. Candyland Official Music video that was directed by 50 Watts production is one of the few local music videos shot in 4k is available on Youtube.

In 2020 Vini is back with two brand new singles and is tapping into the dance scene with 2 upbeat bangers. First single is ‘Ama Black Card’ track with an up -tempo beat simply talking about the ladies and their love for Ching-Ching. Ama Black Card is a club banger and is already gaining ground on local Radio. Vini’s follow up single Ungo’wami is a beautifully crafted mid-tempo track featuring the sultry vocals of Lesedi, Ungo’wami is a jam of a track with easy going vocals by upcoming female singer Lesedi.
